Firm ranked most diverse in Portland

With its 2018 submission of minority and women attorney data to the Portland Business Journal, Reinisch Wilson Weier PC was ranked number one as the most diverse Portland metro-area firm among large law firms (20 or more attorneys). In 2017, the firm was ranked the second most diverse large Portland-metro law firm by the Journal.

The February 3, 2018, issue of the Portland Business Journal posted the size ranking results of its annual survey of Portland Metropolitan-Area law firms. As part of the survey, firms were asked about women and minority attorneys and partners in metro-area work forces. A February 6, 2018, online news article posted the diversity results. The percent share for total attorneys and for partners were added together to determine the firm’s ranking.

The reported data for Reinisch Wilson Weier PC indicated

  • 58% of our metro-area attorneys are women
    (37 % of all Oregon attorneys are women, according to the Oregon State Bar);
  • 8% of our metro-area attorneys are minorities;
  • 55% of our metro-area partners are women;
  • 18% of our metro-area partners are minorities.

Among the metro-area law firms who responded to the survey, one-third of all attorneys are women and less than six percent of Portland-area partners are minorities.

The ranking order of the top 5 most diverse firms were Reinisch Wilson Weier PC, Farleigh Wada Witt, Holland & Knight LLP, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP and Hart Wagner LLP.

The firm’s size ranking, based on 26 Portland metro-area attorneys, moved from number 19 in 2017 to a three-way tie for 18th in the 2018 tally. The largest metro-area law firm remains Stoel Rives with 143 Portland-area attorneys.
